We are pleased to share that Kris Shah has been awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal, an honour presented by the Government of Ontario on behalf of Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada.
The Coronation Medal celebrates individuals who have made a significant and lasting contribution to their province and to the country. Kris’s recognition reflects his decades-long commitment to advancing health innovation in Canada and supporting equity-focused philanthropy around the world.
Kris has spent nearly four decades building and strengthening Canada’s medical technology sector. His journey as a healthcare entrepreneur has been grounded in purpose, progress, and a desire to improve lives. As President of Baylis Medical for over 35 years, and now Executive Chairman of the Board of Baylis Medical Technologies, he has helped grow a Canadian company known for its contributions to patient care and medical advancement. Under his leadership, Kris has brought forward groundbreaking technologies that continue to improve patient care globally, while also fostering Canadian talent and contributing to the broader life sciences ecosystem.
Beyond his business accomplishments, Kris is also deeply engaged in philanthropy through the Shah Family Foundation. The Foundation works with organizations in Canada and internationally that are focused on expanding access to education, strengthening healthcare systems, and creating sustainable, community-led change. Whether funding scholarships for underserved students, supporting maternal care programs, or investing in critical infrastructure, the Foundation’s work reflects Kris’s belief in long-term, values-driven impact.
This honour reflects the depth and breadth of Kris’s contributions to healthcare, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy in Canada.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations on this well-deserved recognition.
